If an event is sold out, you can join the waiting list directly on the event’s page. You’ll be asked for your contact information — no payment required.
How will I know if a spot opens up?
If someone cancels their tickets, Ticket Tailor automatically emails the next person in line with a link to purchase the newly released tickets.
How quickly do I need to respond?
Waiting list invitations are first-come, first-served. If the tickets are claimed by someone else before you complete your purchase, they will no longer appear as available.
Does joining the waiting list guarantee a ticket?
No. The waiting list provides an opportunity, not a guarantee. Availability depends entirely on cancellations.
Can I join the waiting list for multiple events?
Yes. You can join as many event waiting lists as you’d like.
Shiras Planetarium features the only ZEISS VELVET DUO projection system in the Midwest. This advanced digital system is recognized as the best in digital projection for small planetariums, delivering incredibly vivid, sharp star fields and immersive experiences.
While opto-mechanical projectors—like the ZEISS ASTERION—produce the most realistic starfields possible, they require significant additional funding. Our future goal includes adding an ASTERION projector to our facility, which would offer unparalleled star accuracy at an estimated cost of over half a million dollars.
For now, we’re focused on the exciting capabilities of our new digital system, which will enable us to expand programming, educational opportunities, and community engagement in incredible ways.
As of January 1, 2024 we are a cashless facility. We no longer are able to accept cash or check as payment for tickets, field trips, or merchandise. We ask that you plan accordingly and bring credit/debit cards or mobile wallets (such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay) if you wish to make purchases at our facility.

Thank you for your support and understanding!
Please Note:
Our no-cash policy has been established by Marquette Senior High School administration.
As we are part of Marquette Area Public Schools, we are required to adhere to their policies, including the directive not to accept cash payments. This policy ensures the continuity of our operations.
For any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please contact our building principal, Gavin Johnson, at [email protected].
Kindly note that there is no federal law requiring a private business, individual, or organization to accept currency or coins for payment. For more information, visit federalreserve.gov/faqs/currency_12772.htm.
