What age is appropriate?

We offer shows for all types of audiences. At least once a month we offer a show for any age child. Our “Campfire Under the Stars” series is meant to be a way to explore if your child is ready for the planetarium, or help them prepare. Our general public shows are intended for audiences able to remain mostly quiet during the show. We suggest ages 8 and up as a guideline. This is to ensure we offer the best possible experience to all our guests. Thank you for helping us observe these guidelines!

Event Etiquette

Astronomy shows last 30-45 minutes. Once inside the dome we ask you attempt to remain seated for the duration of the show. When the lights are dark, it is very difficult to move around the dome. If the doors are opened, the bright light from the hallway floods into the room, and the star field disappears from the audience. It takes several minutes for most people to get their eyes adjusted to the dark. Remaining seated for the entire show ensures guest safety and allows us to provide the best show possible. Note: if you must leave for emergency reasons please speak up! Let the director know so house lighting can be brought up for safe exit. Occasions certainly arise that are unavoidable. Please help us better support all our guests!

Cell phones and other electronic devices should be kept silent and dark. Light pollution inside the dome is very distracting. Please do your best to help us ensure the best experience possible for all our guests.

Field Trips and Group Visits

We do not currently have full dome projection capabilities and are limited to touring the current night sky with our Minolta MS-8 star projector. However, music laser light shows are also available.

Cost Breakdown: Students under 18 are $2, adults are $3, and seniors over age 60 are free admission.
One free adult admission is provided per 10 students.
